Kwakha Indvodza’s Tom Churchyard attends the MenEngage Africa Annual General Meeting in Maputo-Mozambique.
Tom spent part of this week attending the Men Engage Africa Annual General Meeting in Maputo, Mozambique where Men Engage Members from over 20 countries shared country level highlights, challenges and recommendations for strengthened programme implementation around work with men and boys for gender equality.
Sessions included of strategic input into the next Men Engage Africa (MEA) strategic plan for work beyond June 2018. The strategic direction was to inform future programming and planning for work with men and boys in the region. The Men Engage Africa (MEA) Chair covered updates from the MEA governance structure, including a presentation by MenEngage Global and Key MEA Commitments for 2017/2018.
The Annual General Meeting also featured a World Café Style Technical Assistance session where MEA partners got a chance to speak to various members of the MEA and Sonke Gender Justice technical support team in support of any capacity needs, MEA induction processes, Monitoring and Evaluation, Resources mobilization, policy and advocacy. Lastly a new 2017-2020 Men Engage Africa Steering Committee was selected in free and fair elections, Chaired by James Itana, who represents Men Engage Namibia.
